In this post, we will walk you through some useful tips to fix iPhone keyboard freezing problem in iOS 10.
1. Update to the latest version of iOS
If you are one of those who has been affected by the issue, the first thing you need to do is to check if your iPhone is up to date. Keep in mind that a new software update usually comes with bug fixes and performance improvements, so make sure that you are now running the latest version of iOS.
If you are not sure about that, head to Settings app > General > Software update and check if there is an update pending on your device.
2. Hard reset
If your device is up to date, but the problem still persists, a hard reset may help. On iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the process of hard resetting your device is slightly different. Here is how.
Step one: First off, you need to press and hold the Lock/Wake button located on the right side of your device.
Step two: Press and hold down the Volume button (Make sure that you are still holding Lock/Wake button)
Step three: Keep holding both buttons until the screen turns black and you see the Apple logo.
If you now have an older iPhone model, you simply need to hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button at the same time.
3. Turn off predictive keyboard
Predictive Typing has been available on the top of the native keyboard since the days of iOS 8. Basically, it offers recommended words or phrases you’d probably type. However, there are times when Predictive Tying can prevent the keyboard from working properly. To disable it, you simply need to head to Settings, scroll down and select General > Keyboard and then tap on the switch next to Predictive.
4. Disable Check Spelling
The issue may be with Check Spelling which is why your iPhone keyboard freezes. Here is how you can disable it.
Step one: Launch the Settings app from your home screen and then select General
Step two: Tap on Keyboard and then tap on the switch next to Check Spelling.
5. Reset all Settings
If the problem doesn’t just disappear, resetting all settings may do the job. Note that doing so will not remove any data on your device, but your device will go back to the factory settings.
Step one: Launch the Settings app on your device and then select General
Step two: You now need to choose Reset All Settings and enter the passcode.
6. Restore your device
If your iPhone keyboard still freezes randomly, try restoring your device using iTunes. Before proceeding, make sure that you have created a recent backup of your device.
